Get ready for a true adventure as you head to the cloud forest of Nicaragua to explore the Mombacho Volcano. After an early breakfast, you will be picked up from your hostel in Managua at 6:30am to begin a 2 hour drive to the Mombacho Volcano National Reserve.
Mombacho Volcano Full Day Tour
Upon arrival you will begin the Crater Trail, a 1.5km hiking route that takes you through the national reserve. As you climb the volcano, you will pass through cloud forest which is home to several species of monkeys, snakes, birds, reptiles, insects, and even the illusive Mombacho Salamander, which cannot be found anywhere else in the world! The biodiversity and the smell of sulfur give life to the sacred mountain which is still active to this day. From the lookouts at the highest point on your hike you will be treated to panoramic vistas of the city, islands, and lagoons surrounding the area. After 1.5hrs your walk will finish, and you will begin your next adventure ziplining and walking through the treetops.
In the company of a professional naturalist guide, head to your ziplining tour where you will have the chance to soar through the canopy on a network of ziplines wooden and fiberglass platforms that cover a combined 1,500m/5,000ft. During the adventure, zipline across 6 separate stretches of canopy, try out the tarzan swing, and prepare for a thrilling vertical repel descent.
Your day will end with a brief visit to a coffee nursery and plantation, where you can taste test some of the finest locally grown Nicaraguan beans before the return trip to Managua.
