I truly don’t know where to start. This was an awesome trip but I need to mention in advance of describing the trip the great service provided by Claudia and Matt. Before we got into planning the itinerary, the Good Life Expeditions team took time to ask all the right questions about our family. Importantly, they helped us to decide on land-based accommodations over a small cruise boat. They also understood our challenges of traveling with a finicky child and everyone at the hotel and in the tour groups were super accommodating.

Of course, we were on a boat every day so if you are thinking about a land-based trip don’t think you will be hiking more than being out on the water. Our trip entailed a visit to an area to see free-roaming land tortoises, full-day cruises, kayaking, cycling, an outing to the gorgeous Garrapatero Beach, a visit to the Darwin Research center, snorkeling, hiking to the humongous sinkholes and more. Our guides were hand-picked by the agency and we loved them. In Quito, we loved the door-to-door service to all the sites and the insider tips they shared with us. One important tip was that eating guinea pig is totally optional!

We will be returning to South America with Good Life Expeditions. The only real question is where exactly we will go. We look forward to getting guidance from Claudia and Matt and to our next adventure. We found Good Life Expeditions when we were exploring a mission-oriented trip. With the kids’ school schedules that didn’t work out this time but on a longer break, we would like to see if we can coordinate combining the two. Even though we didn’t do that, it was nice to know we were traveling with a socially responsible company. I understand the agency’s business helps fund the mission of the NGO.
