Arusha National Park Safari

You’ll be picked up this morning from your accommodations in Moshi and transferred to Arusha National Park, Tanzania’s smallest park in the northern circuit. After a relatively quick 1.5-hour drive, you’ll enter the lush green grasslands of the park. 

Wildlife will be scattered throughout your entire adventure. Keep your eyes peeled for herds of antelope and warthogs. There are a plethora of giraffes, zebras, and buffalo – and if you’re lucky, maybe even a jaguar! You’ll be sure to spot a variety of species in this uniquely beautiful habitat, all within a few hours.

Start your tour along the Momella Lakes. Surrounded by rolling green hills, the park’s seven lakes punctuate the post-volcanic landscape. With a high sodium content and algae growth, the lakes are a prime feeding ground for flamingos. Then drive to the massive Mount Meru – Tanzania’s second highest mountain towering at nearly 15,000 feet (4,562 meters). Its spectacular peak pierces the sky, offering a breathtaking landscape for photos. Finally, venture along the rim of Ngurudoto Crater. The spectacular caldera plunges deep into the earth, spanning approximately 2 miles (3.6 kilometers) in diameter, with steep rocky cliffs marking where two volcanic cones merged and collapsed.

Once you’ve finished your tour, transfer back to your accommodations in Moshi.

Weather

The weather conditions can vary while on Safari. Mornings and evenings are generally cooler, but it can get quite hot during the day. Additionally, the roads in the National Parks are all dirt or gravel, so they tend to be dusty during the dry season and muddy during the wet season.

Wild Animals & Safety

While wild animal attacks are extremely rare, it is always important to remember that you will be traveling through the wilderness. Be sure to abide by the rules and regulations of the parks, and always listen to your guide’s instructions.
